 Established
in 1981, the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital adhered to
the principle of Mr. Y.Z Hsu, founder of the Far Eastern
Group, “feeding back what e take from society”, and provided
actively high-quality medical service for 1500thousand
inhabitants in Pan Chiao, Tu Chen, Chung Ho, Hsu Lin,
and Hsin Chuang areas.Since establishment the numbers
of patients have been gradually increased, the beds are
quickly added from 300 to present 600 beds, and now have
been extended 1,000 beds after the completion of extension
in November 2001.
For the upgrade of Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, we signed
an contract of educational cooperation with the NTU Hospital
in May, 1999, and continuously ushered in the outstanding
doctors from the NTU Hospital and others, combined with
our original excellent doctors to from an integrated medical
team in the pursuit of continuous promotion of medical
quality and the emphasis on medical research and teaching.
The hospital emphasizes a patient oriented service. Our
hospital has put 3C2T1A as our core competence. Three
C are: Cardiovascular disease, Critical care and Cancer
center. Two T are : Traumatology, and Transplantation.
1A is : Administration.
 As
to the cardiovascular disease, the Far Eastern Memorial
Hospital had successfully completed the first open heart
surgery in Taipei County in Jan. 18,200. In May, 2000,
we’ve completed the systems of cardiac catheterization
and nuclear medicine. The Far Eastern Memorial Hospital
has possessed modern equipments of cardiology and cardiovascular
and the equipment concerning to the diagnosis and treatment
of all kind of cardiovascular diseases. We completed the
fist case of heart transplantation in Jan. 18, 2001, that
was also the first case of “a person of three transplanted
heart” simultaneous heterotopic transplantation of two
donor hearts in the world. As to the critical care, we
possessed a high-level critical care team and facilities,
and owned 95 intensive care beds. The cancer center had
combined with medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation
oncology, other specialties (internal medicine, surgery,
gynecology, pediatrics), tissue pathology, clinical pathology,
imaging medicine, nuclear medicine and oncology nursing
etc. to form an “integrated team of cancer therapy”. As
to the aspect of equipments, there are CT Scan/MRI and
linear accelerator, 3- dimensional conformal radiotherapy,
above mentioned anti-cancer chemotherapy, hormone therapy,
plus other novel anti-cancer biological agents.
 As
to the traumatology, we have sent surgeons abroad for
the study of traumatology medicine. We also established
a traumatology ream to cooperate with the development
of critical care medicine, thus will allow any critical
patient to be cured in the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital,
then patient transfer will not be needed. In the aspect
of organ transplantation, presently we have already proceeded
the heart, kidney and cornea transplantations, and are
approved to do the heart-lung transplantation. We have
already applied the modern technology information in hospital
management and medical operation, thus the waiting time
of patients can be shortened, and it will promote the
efficiency and contentment of patients.
After the completion of the new building, the hardware
equipments have been largely improved. From now on, we
will continuously upgrade medical quality, and enhance
the research and teaching of medical science heading toward
to the medical center. We will “Rooting in Pan Chiao,
taking hold of whole nation, and surveying the whole world”,
and keep working hard for the promotion of human health
in the new ear. |
