Far Eastern Memorial Hospital's 45th Anniversary Celebration and Healthy Taiwan Sprout Project Achievement Showcase & Cross-Hospital Collaboration Forum

To address Taiwan's changing population structure, increasing healthcare demands, and the long-term sustainability of the National Health Insurance system, the Healthy Taiwan Sprout Project was officially launched in September 2025. The program aims to drive systematic, bottom-up reforms across Taiwan's healthcare system, optimize the healthcare environment, and realize the vision of a Healthy Taiwan.

On June 15, 2026, Far Eastern Memorial Hospital (FEMH) hosted the achievement showcase and cross-hospital collaboration forum, titled "Far Eastern Healthcare Partnership: Building a Smart Healthcare Ecosystem." Representatives from the New Taipei City Medical Association, strategic partner healthcare institutions, and industry-academia collaborators gathered to witness FEMH's achievements in smart healthcare, hierarchical medical care, and preventive medicine.

During the forum, FEMH presented the outcomes of Domain III: Advancing Smart Healthcare Technologies, featuring innovative applications including AI Voiceprint Analysis and AI Dementia Screening, demonstrating how artificial intelligence enhances clinical decision-making, early risk identification, and healthcare workflow optimization. Under Domain IV: Promoting Socially Responsible Medical Sustainability, FEMH showcased its efforts to establish an integrated platform connecting hospitals, primary care clinics, and community healthcare resources to strengthen hierarchical healthcare and ensure continuity of care. Three innovative digital platforms were introduced: the Far Eastern e-Care Integrated Platform, the Referral System, and the Smart Health Screening Platform. Through comprehensive information integration, these platforms streamline patient referrals, case management, and follow-up care while enhancing public awareness of preventive healthcare.

 AI Voiceprint Analysis

Patients with asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases require long-term monitoring. However, conventional pulmonary function tests must be performed in hospitals, making daily monitoring difficult. FEMH collaborated with Asia Eastern University of Science and Technology and Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) to develop an AI Voiceprint Analysis system. By simply speaking a short sentence into a smartphone, users can receive an instant AI analysis of their respiratory condition and asthma control status. The entire assessment takes less than 30 seconds, requires no invasive procedures, and can be performed conveniently at home. When combined with clinical data, the system achieves an accuracy exceeding 90% (Based on use by over 1,000 symptomatic asthma patients following professional medical assessment). This technology represents Taiwan's first patented medical voiceprint application. It was officially implemented in the pulmonary medicine outpatient clinic at FEMH in June 2026 and is scheduled to expand to partner hospitals in October.

AI Dementia Screening

As Taiwan transitions into a super-aged society, the prevalence of dementia continues to rise. With the advent of breakthrough treatments—such as disease-modifying anti-amyloid therapy, early detection and timely intervention have become more critical than ever for preserving cognitive health in older adults.
Far Eastern Memorial Hospital (FEMH), in collaboration with KVQ Intellect, has developed the iBrain Quick Screening system, an AI-powered, voice-based cognitive screening platform. By simply providing a 60-second speech sample, users receive a preliminary screening result generated through the AI analysis of specific vocal characteristics. This innovative approach efficiently identifies individuals who may be at risk for Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and dementia.
Notably, the research team behind this technology ranked first in Taiwan and fifth globally in an international AI prediction competition (2024 The INTERSPEECH TAUKADIAL Challenge). The platform demonstrates around 90% accuracy in Mandarin speech recognition (for clinical reference only; a definitive diagnosis still requires confirmation by a professional medical team), offering a rapid, convenient, and non-invasive screening experience. It is scheduled for clinical rollout across partner hospitals starting in August 2026.

Far Eastern e-Care Integrated Platform

When patients transition from hospitals to community healthcare, home care, or long-term care services, multiple rounds of communication and repeated information exchanges are often required, resulting in longer waiting times and interruptions in care. FEMH collaborated with FET to establish the Far Eastern e-Care Integrated Platform, which integrates cross-institution referral and care coordination processes. The platform enables healthcare teams to monitor patient care progress more efficiently and deliver timely, continuous healthcare services.

 Referral System

To strengthen the effectiveness of Taiwan's hierarchical healthcare system, FEMH developed the Referral System, connecting partner healthcare institutions through a unified digital platform. The system enables partner institutions to assist patients in scheduling referral appointments and obtaining dedicated referral registration numbers, significantly reducing waiting times. Healthcare professionals can also monitor patients' referral progress in real time, improving care coordination and creating a smoother, more convenient healthcare experience.

 Smart Health Screening Platform

Health management should begin before illness occurs. FEMH collaborated with FET and Galaxy Software Services (GSS) to develop the Smart Health Screening Platform, which integrates vaccination records, health examinations, cancer screening services, and domestic and international preventive medicine guidelines.

Based on each individual's age, gender, and health status, the platform provides personalized preventive healthcare recommendations, helping people shift from passive disease treatment toward proactive health management.

As population aging accelerates, chronic disease management needs increase, and smart healthcare technologies continue to evolve, Far Eastern Memorial Hospital will remain committed to the spirit of "Far Eastern Healthcare Partnership," deepening the integration of healthcare and digital technologies while collaborating with healthcare institutions and industry-academia partners to drive innovation in smart healthcare and build a more comprehensive healthcare ecosystem.
